从2017年开始，以下科目会被移除A-level教育体系(已经在学习这些科目的学生不会受到影响)：

Media: Communication and production

Moving image arts

Pure mathematics

Quantitative methods (will be available at AS only)

Science (will be available at AS only)

大学如何看待A-Level 改革？

以牛津大学为例，牛津大学从来不把AS-level的考试成绩作为学生申请的必要要求，反而会更加重视GCSE的成绩，和已取得的、或预测将取得的A-level成绩（或其他同等水平测试成绩）。

同时，牛津还会以学生的个人陈述、学术推荐信和写作水平为参考，决定是否录取。

如果学生在AS-level考试中没有取得A或A*的成绩，反而会对大学申请有不利影响，因为牛津大学的绝大部分申请者在GCSE, AS-level和A-level考试中都获得了A或A*的成绩。

牛津大学建议学生在A-level阶段要更加重视学习的深度而非广度。
